Hermeneutics, Specialized Communication, and Translation
| This book brings together research in translation studies and specialized communication. The study of translation as transcultural specialized communication—covering both translation and interpreting—draws on theoretical and empirical approaches from diverse disciplines such as translation studies, linguistics, communication studies, cultural studies, and related fields. Translational hermeneutics, in turn, integrates a wide range of perspectives: from understanding translation as the art and craft of interpretation performed by the individual translator, to approaches informed by literary studies, cognitive science, sociology, and philosophically oriented hermeneutics, particularly phenomenological traditions. A closer examination of the relations between hermeneutics, specialized communication, and translation thus opens a broad field of inquiry, capable of accommodating multiple scholarly perspectives and addressing a variety of contemporary questions. Authors in this volume:Elena Chiocchetti, Tatsiana Haiden, Ralph Krüger, Miriam P. Leibbrand, Brian O’Keeffe, Tinka Reichmann, Radegundis Stolze, Ursula Wienen, Eva Wiesmann. |
